Helen is a very experienced Iyengar teacher who has led classes for over 25 years. Her classes are suitable for beginners.
Iyengar yoga classes generally start with simple work and gradually move towards more challenging poses, ending with a period of relaxation, often incorporating Pranayama (breathing techniques). You will develop a detailed knowledge of yoga postures and sequencing, and learn about the use of props to create the safe and correct alignment of the body.
The Iyengar yoga technique emphasises precision and alignment. Quality of movement is prioritised over quantity. You learn to move with ease in your body while working within your limitations. This makes the yoga postures (asanas) safe to perform.
