New Classes - Michael Gibson
Saturdays starting 1st November 2025
Beginner focused 4-5pm
Improver/ experienced 5.30 - 6.30pm
Michael Gibson
Hello! My name is Michael and I am a recently qualified yoga instructor. While I am very much at the beginning of this adventure, I am looking forward to guiding others along their own yoga journey as I continue along my own.
Classes
I am currently putting together a six-week programme of Saturday evening classes which will start on 1st November 2025 at the Yoga Station. Each week there will be a different theme, focussing on a particular area of the body, a particular type of pose, breathing technique and/or aspect of yogic philosophy.
There will be a choice of a beginner-focussed class, running from 4:00pm to 5:00pm or an improver/experienced class running from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Although these classes have a slightly different “target audience” in mind, they will be designed to be both accessible and positively challenging for all attendees, so do feel free to join either class, irrespective of your level of experience.
I aim to make my classes fully inclusive and welcome students from all backgrounds and walks of life. If there is anything I can do, either in advance or during, to ensure that you feel welcome, included and able to access the classes, feel free to get in touch or speak to me at the start.
Beginner-focussed classes
These classes are particularly suitable for complete beginners or those who have, so far, only done a little bit of yoga in the past. It will be slower-paced, with an emphasis on the most accessible poses, breathing techniques and lots of tips to avoid injury.
Improver/experienced classes
These classes will have a similar weekly theme to the beginner-focussed classes, but will be at a slightly more energetic pace and typically involve a more flowing style. More advanced options will be offered for those who already have these within their practice.

Namaste!
I'm Laura and I’m a yoga teacher and fitness enthusiast living in beautiful Whitley Bay.
Yoga has been a constant in my life for over 10 years, and my goal as a yoga teacher is to share my love of yoga with others.
I’m super passionate about all things fitness - I’m a devoted yogi, a keen runner and a barre-addict! I’m equally a fan of a challenging practice as much as a restorative one. I believe that it’s so important to appreciate and respect our bodies, and the space we find ourselves in.
Yoga has been a profound teacher, shaping my outlook on failure. I may never conquer a headstand or master Scorpion pose, and that’s absolutely fine! I choose to celebrate the capabilities of my body, focusing on what it can achieve instead of fixating on what it cannot.
Yoga has instilled in me the art of embracing and even inviting change - be it within my physical self, mindset, or life in general.
My mission is to collaborate with others in celebrating the joy of movement, boosting strength and endurance, attaining fitness milestones, and embracing not only the physical but also the mental and emotional rewards of yoga.

Slow(er) Flow with Lucy
Starting Friday 2nd JUNE for 4 weeks
6.00 - 7.00 pm
Hi, I'm Lucy,
My yoga teaching style is developing as I am learning more about yoga and building on 9 years of personal yoga practice, training in health psychology, and experience with plenty of sport-related injuries. If you come to my class, you can expect a combination of meditation, breathing practices, a slower “flow” to enjoy and make the most of every pose, and probably a wobble and a laugh!
The classes are currently donation-based, with proceedings going towards the Yoga station, the Station Master’s Community Garden, and towards my further training. Contact me on kumbhakabay@gmail.com if you would like to reserve your spot in any of the classes below or have any questions about them.
Please note that I have designed the classes so that they build upon each other, so booking to attend the full block is preferable. The classes are limited to 10 -12 spaces.
See you soon!

Clare says;
"I discovered Pilates whilst marathon training and initially found that it helped me to train more efficiently and avoid injuries too. I also found that practicing Pilates had a pronounced beneficial effect on my mental wellbeing. This is what inspired me to study Pilates and qualify to become a teacher. I practice Pilates regularly and I feel this compliments my training invaluably. I am passionate about the benefits of Pilates to both the body and mind and feel so excited to have completed my instructor training and can’t wait to share my practice with you all."
