Singing Workshops at The Yoga Station — September!
Always wanted to sing and be part of something? I am running two singing workshops this September at The Yoga Station, with a view to starting a regular singing group/choir.
Each session will include some singing together, plus a chance to share ideas about what a potential choir at the Yoga Station could look like.
I'm a singer/songwriter and freelance creative facilitator based in the community. Over the past year I've run several pop choirs and one-off singing workshops, and I'm excited to grow this into something more permanent (and a bit different), I love it so much. I've sung at the Yoga Station twice before, and so I know what a great place it is for sound.
There are two dates to choose from — £5 per place:
Sunday 20th September, 1.00 – 3.00pm
Saturday 26th September, 1:00–3.00pm

I am a creative practitioner, qualitative researcher and singer-songwriter with a doctorate (2021) and postdoctoral Fellowship (2023) focussing on home, housing, land, place, community, motherhood and domestic abuse. I am a published academic author (see below) and I am also experienced in translating complex research into accessible, multi-media, artistic mediums for community spaces. These include an exhibition, live performance, spoken word, original music, soundscape and digital art. My work includes the What is Home? exhibition (Laurels, Whitley Bay) and a 90-minute Newcastle Fringe show What is Home? 2.0 (Lubberfiend, Newcastle).
As a freelance and participatory artist, I collaborate with communities to co-create bespoke songs, spoken word and singing workshops. I draw on strong qualitative skills in pattern recognition and thematic analysis. I am a singer/songwriter in my own right, and I perform original issue-driven songwriting at established and non-traditional venues across the Northeast. I am a qualified Community and Youth Worker with extensive experience working with children, young people and communities across diverse settings.
